The challenge: potato predicaments

Agristo, a leader in agro-food innovation for over a decade and a long-term delaware partner, faced growing pains in their planning processes due to rapidly expanding production across four sites. Relying on disconnected tools such as Excel created visibility gaps, slowing their response to fluctuating market demands.

  • Potato processing has unique planning challenges: seasonal crop variations, balancing volatile supply with market demand, and optimizing secondary outputs such as potato peel products.
  • Efficiently aligning batch composition, processing schedules, and packaging requirements while minimizing waste is crucial for profitability and sustainability.

The solution: OnePlan to rule them all

Enter the OnePlan project – a complete overhaul of Agristo’s planning processes. Leveraging their existing SAP architecture (SAP S/4HANA and SAP IBP), the project introduced SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing for Planning and Scheduling (formerly PP/DS). This unified system streamlines master, production, and packaging planning, supported by SAP IBP.

Next to the implementation of the optimized planning solution, delaware facilitated the transition through change management support, comprehensive user training and guidance. The long-standing partnership between Agristo and delaware ensured a shared understanding of industry-specific challenges and enabled the co-creation of scalable, future-proof solutions.

Key innovations include tailored solutions for:

  • Potato-specific planning to optimize raw material intake and minimize waste.
  • Intermediate container scheduling for smooth production transitions.
  • Cleaning process optimization for enhanced efficiency and food safety.
  • Packaging planning alignment to match production outputs with customer delivery requirements.
The success of OnePlan is rooted in the enduring collaboration between Agristo and delaware. Over a decade, this partnership has consistently delivered tailored solutions, addressing Agristo’s evolving needs. This shared journey highlights the importance of trust, industry expertise, and a commitment to innovation in achieving long-term excellence.
