Earlier this year, delaware officially started the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition at Parkwind, which is renowned for its North Sea wind farms. This move will lay the foundation for Parkwind’s ambitious international growth plans. delaware has accepted the challenge to complete the implementation within six months.

Last year, Belgian company Parkwind was acquired by the Japanese energy company JERA, and became part of JERA Nex, a global renewable energy business. Since then, the company has further spread its wings globally.

Parkwind is considered a cornerstone of JERA’s vision in becoming a leading energy provider with a focus on renewable energy sources. JERA Nex has put Parkwind front and center as one of the driving forces behind its commitment to promote renewable energy across the globe and as a blueprint for other companies joining the ranks of JERA Nex.

Earlier this year, delaware kicked off the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition at Parkwind, and the process should provide a template for other companies that follow suit in the months and years to come. This implementation fits perfectly in the 2-tier approach that Jera Co., , which also runs SAP, envisions.

Solid base for international growth

Joost Talloen, Head of Finance of Parkwind, says, “We chose SAP because of the very strong multi-company and multi-country capabilities and the industry best practices they bring forward. We were also impressed by the fully integrated project accounting that SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition offers.”

Parkwind’s wind farms are separate legal entities, on which the company must be able to report in a consolidated manner. SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition provides a solid foundation for this. Moreover, the standard package already meets the legal, tax, and accounting requirements of many countries. This way, Parkwind can quickly grow internationally and easily accommodate new entities on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Why delaware?

delaware’s approach - a standard implementation that serves as a blueprint for rapid international growth - fits perfectly with Parkwind’s ambitions. “We chose delaware because of its strong focus on energy and utilities,” says Joost Talloen, “as well as its extensive experience with SAP Public Cloud, which it combines with a pragmatic, personal approach.”

There is a clear match between Parkwind and delaware. “We are the largest player in the field of SAP Public Cloud in Belgium,” says Jan Van der Steen, Energy and Utilities partner at delaware. “Both delaware and Parkwind have a local and an international footprint. During each project, we collaborate with the client on a phased approach in which we can roll out SAP as efficiently as possible.”

An additional advantage is that delaware has extensive experience within a very broad landscape of SAP applications, as they are a SAP Platinum Partner. “This allows us to support Parkwind’s expansion plans in the future,” continues Jan Van der Steen.
